Writing on your clear zip-top bag may not be allowed

After 3-oz. bottles were allowed in a zip-top bag, a frequent flyer from Milwaukee decided to tag his bag with the following comment: "Kip Hawley is an idiot."

Now, very, very few of us have a clue who Kip Hawley is, so props to the perpetrator of this evil deed of free speech. Drop by the blog "flyertalk" and read his description of his adventure at "I was detained at the TSA checkpoint for about 25 minutes today" wherein he describes being detained by the real police and being told that his right to free speech stopped at the x-ray machine. Go ahead and read it now; I'll be happy to wait.

Okay. This being America and this also being the World Wide Web, http://www.kiphawleyisanidiot.com/ soon sprung up, and we now have instructions on how to make our own Freedom Bag. The Webmaster also provides Mr. Hawley's email address for persons to exercise their freedom of speech on a more direct level.

Meanwhile, note that you must use 3-oz. bottles, at least at some airports. Cory Doctorow writes that his freedom, er, moisture baggie was taken from him at LAX because the bottles containing his lotions were not the approvied size, even though none of the contents exceeded three ounces.
