WHO travels internationally

The World Health Organizatio has its brochure entitled International travel and health available online at International travel and health publication. This is the 2007 edition. WHO also has chapters from its 2005/2006 edition online as .pdf files at the same location.

I have a pet peeve about the use of "pre," and they push that button once, when they offer an article on travelling with "pre-existing medical conditions." In my very humble opinion, I have medical conditions, but not pre-existing ones. However, they later refer to air travel with medical conditions (but not pre-existing ones), so I'm somewhat mollified. Also, I get to use chemoprophylaxis to alert you that among the diseases covered is malaria.

The chapters are divided among several topics, so you can choose the ones you find helpful in your travel planning; file sizes range from under a hundred kb to under two mb, so download times will not be burdensome for most of us.

Topics include travel-related risks, insurance, air travel issues (such as cabin pressure, cosmic radiation, aircraft disinfection), heat and humidity, traffic accidents, infectious diseases, vaccinations, malaria, and yellow fever. And, of course, the ever-popular chemoprophylaxis and problems related to its long-term use.
